The2016 Chevy Silveradoand Silverado HD feature some neat looking special edition models. Whether it's the wheels, a unique paint job, or chrome accents, all of these trucks have something that make them stand out in a crowd. Compared to the standard Silverado, these special editions look much more distinct. They stray from the norm of what Chevy trucks typically look like — and all of these editions are a good look for the Silverado. Now, those looking for a more customized Silverado experience can select from one of these four special edition models.

Whether you choose the Midnight, Black Out, Custom Sport HD, or the Realtree, you are still getting the same high-quality Chevrolet experience under the hood and in the cab.

Silverado Midnight and Midnight HD

Like Chevy says "everything's better after dark," and the Midnight and Midnight HD editions are here to prove it. These special editions are both equipped with Chevy's Z71 Off-Road Package, which means they are able to perform just as aggressively as they look.

Midnight

If you aren't looking for a bigger and bolder HD edition, then opt for the Midnight which is available on some of the Silverado's 1500 Crew Cab and Double Cab models. This edition isn't as aggressive looking as it's big brother, but it's certainly not a puppy-on-wheels. The first thing you'll notice about the Midnight edition are the upgraded 18-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac off-road tires — which are entirely blacked out. Keeping with this blackout theme, the Midnight also has black Chevy bowtie emblems, black door handles, black mirror caps, and a black front skid plate. The black-on-black paint job creates quite the contrast when paired with the Silverado Midnight's bright LED running lights, making it's unique design pop even more.

Midnight HD

If you are looking for a bigger and bolder truck, then go with the Midnight HD edition. This bad boy has all the same features as the Midnight edition, with a more aggressive stance. The Z71 package gives the HD edition the same features, but they look vastly superior on this truck. The bigger size of the Midnight HD compliments the bold Z71 badging, and the tires don't look as out of place as they do on the 1500 Midnight edition.

The result is a truck that has a bold and in-your face nature, and both the Midnight and Midnight HD edition Silverado will make people turn green with envy as they watch it go down the road.

Silverado Black Out

Want a black truck that doesn't stand out as much as the Midnight and Midnight HD? Then grab the Black Out, which is the under-the-radar edition of the 2016 Chevy Silverado special edition lineup. That doesn't mean this not-so-basic black truck will fail to turn heads, but it's far more subdued than the Midnight editions. For starters, the Black Out doesn't have the Z71 Off-Road Package, which means it doesn't have such a bold nature.

This truck will capture your attention in a more subtle way, thanks to it's refined take on what a black special edition truck should look like. The same black Chevy bowtie emblems equip this vehicle, along with the black grille and headlamp bezels. However, the Black Out is riding on 20-inch black wheels, and has standard deep-tinted rear windows. Even though the wheels are two inches bigger than the ones on the Midnight edition, they don't stand out nearly as much. This helps the Black Out fulfill its primary mission: remaining as stealthy as possible. This truck isn't available for the HD, and is only available on the 1500 Regular Cab and Double Cab WT models.

The Black Out edition brings a different type of attention to the Chevy lineup. It provides the onlooker with a brief glimpse of it's subtle and unique features before quickly blending into the crowd, leaving them wondering what they just saw.

Silverado Custom Sport HD

While the previous two editions are about stealing attention, the Custom Sport HD is about classing it up and providing a whole new level of sophistication to the Silverado. Not only is this the only edition available in two different colors — Black or Summit White — but it's also the only edition to be offered in just HD. The white or black paint job is complimented by chrome bodyside molding, chrome door handles, and chrome mirror caps. Along with the chrome accents, it's also accompanied by jazzed-up 20-inch polished-aluminum wheels that really make it pop when sitting on the black-top. As if Chevy knew it would be too much, they ensured the design was rounded off with body-color grille and bumpers that are, thankfully, not chrome.

Just because it's a truck that brings class to the table, doesn't mean it can't perform. After all, since it's only available on the 2500 HD Crew Cab LT and LTZ models, that means you are getting one of Chevy's stronger engines; which gives it more horsepower and torque than the 1500 Silverado models. The engine options on the Silverado 2500 HD are the standard gasoline-powered Vortex 6.0-liter V8 engine, and the available Duramax 6.6-liter Turbo-Diesel V8 engine if you want a little more kick. The standard gasoline engine is able to put out 360 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque, and the Duramax engine puts out 397 horsepower and a whopping 765 pound-feet of torque; which gives it a towing capacity of up to 18,000 pounds.

The Custom Sport HD edition also comes with a spray-in bedliner (just like the Midnight HD), as well as front and rear park assist, along with many more technology and safety features.

Silverado Realtree

Looking at this truck, you might think it was born right in the wild. But it wasn't, it was just built for the wild. Chevrolet and Realtree decided to team up and make a truck for outdoor enthusiasts, and called it the Silverado Realtree. Realtree is a company that specializes in making hunting gear for true outdoorsman, and they have a signature camouflage hunting pattern. Therefore, Chevy uses Realtree's signature hunting pattern to provide a unique level of detail to this truck. The camouflage graphics don't just stay on the outside, because Chevy knows that just like you this truck is a true woodsman at heart. Which is why they made sure the same signature hunting pattern camo accents the dashboard and black leather seats.

Just like the Midnight and Blackout editions, the Silverado Realtree also has a black Chevy bowtie emblem, and the big and bold Z71 off-road package and badging. Along with the Realtree camouflage graphic that sets it apart from the other special editions, this Silverado also has off-road assist steps, Rancho shocks, and black bed-rails that run up to the roof of the truck; all these ensure you are prepared for anything the wilderness throws at you.

The black paint job provides a nice backdrop for the Realtree camo graphics, and this edition is available for 1500 Crew Cab LTZ and Z71 models.

In the End, It's Still a Chevy

In the end, whether you pick the Midnight, Midnight HD, Black Out, Custom Sport HD, or Realtree, it's still a Silverado. Which means you are still buying a long-lasting, rugged, and reliable Chevy truck. Mechanically, all the special edition Silverados perform just the same as your standard Silverado; which means above average performance. Not only do they perform just as well, but they also have the same standard and optional features available on the 1500, 2500, and HD trucks — just with more aesthetic flair.

So if you want a 2016 Chevy Silverado that has a unique design that still performs in a legendary way, then look for one of these special edition trucks.
